- Me and my bike
Ashleigh Moolman Pasio
I am 24 years young, 1.63 m short, weigh more or less 49 kg, and am proudly South African.
I was born in Pretoria, South Africa on the 9th of December 1985 to proud parents, Frances Greathead and Johan Moolman.
I completed my schooling at Eunice Girls School in Bloemfontein.
I am currently a qualified Chemical Engineer, pursuing a career as a professional cyclist for Lotto Ladies Team in Europe and Biogen Toyota in South Africa.
A brief background on how I got into cycling:
During my final year at school, I was involved in a serious horse riding accident, where I fractured my basal skull bone and found myself in hospital in a coma. The initial prognosis was not good and the doctors were not even sure if I would be able to complete my final year of school. I was at the edge, a case of life or death, and GOD gave me LIFE. Not only did he give me life, but he blessed me with a full recovery. A true MIRACLE! I was able to complete my school career and went on to study Chemical Engineering at Stellenbosch University.
It was during my studies at Stellenbosch that I met the man of my dreams, my husband Carl Pasio. When we met, he was a serious triathlete and it was through him that I discovered a love for endurance sports. I had always been a sporty gal, but had only ever dabbled with team sports at school. It was Carl who introduced me to a life of competitive endurance sports. First I dabbled in triathlon and duathlon, but after struggling with running induced injuries, I decided to focus on cycling, a decision I will never regret!
Today I find myself travelling the world, competing on the world stage of women’s cycling. It is through my talent in cycling that I give GLORY to GOD and intend to spread the word of his GREATNESS!
I live half the year in Stellenbosch, South Africa and the other half in Varese, Italy; constantly chasing summer days and good weather.
I love cooking, cycling, fun in the sun and spending time with my loved ones.
I am sum what of a all rounder on the bike, but my strength is definitely climbing. My character is that of a hard working, dedicated and motivated individual.
I definitely have a weakness for chocolate and like to sleep late.
